Teaching European languages and building contacts with schools in other countries enhances the overall learning experience for children. We review funds and grants aimed at achieving this and providing development opportunities for teachers

School linking visits

This scheme is designed to help schools in England and Wales form partnerships with schools abroad, or to develop already existing links. The scheme will provide up to £500 per person for teachers and headteachers to cover the cost of a trip to another school in Europe. Higher travel costs up to £1,000 will be considered for visits further afield.

When school funds are limited, it is often funding for arts activities that are pared down. There are, however, a number of arts grant-makers that can support your projects

Awards for All
A good starting point for arts funding is the National Lottery's Awards for All scheme, which offers grants of between £300 and £10,000. Schools can only apply for funding for projects that take place in out-of-school hours (not including lunchtime) and are deemed extra-curricular.
